Broadleaf weeds are a real problem for Buffalo lawns, this is due to the herbicides which are mostly used to control broadleaf weeds in lawns can often severely damage or kill a Buffalo lawn.

For this reason, the lawn owner will need to be very careful when selecting a weed killer for their Buffalo grass.

Weed Killer For Buffalo Lawns

Broadleaf weedkillers will kill many weeds such as clover, petty spurge, bindii, dandelions and capeweed.

The different Buffalo cultivars will all react differently to herbicide use.

For this reason it is best to always test a small area of Buffalo lawn one week prior to spraying the entire lawn.

Apply with a Spraying bottle with the herbicide mixed with water at manufacturers recommendations.

Lawn Mowing and Weed Spraying

Do not apply Buffalo herbicides one week prior to spraying and one week after lawn mowing. Spraying too early after mowing can severely damage the lawn, and mowing too early after spraying will remove much of the herbicide, reducing it's effectiveness.

Lawn Watering and Weed Spraying

Do not apply herbicides within 2 days of lawn watering or expected rain, as this will reduce the effectiveness of the weed spray.
